The Social Justice & Special Assistance Department (SJSA) of Government of Maharashtra is engaged in various initiatives to ensure the equal opportunity and social justice to the under privileged class of people such as scheduled caste, old-aged persons etc. by providing them equal opportunities in the fields of education, economy and social security. The SJSA department also implements various welfare schemes for upliftment of Scheduled Castes (SC) Population, Old age persons, Transgender Community, and other weaker sections of the society. Department provides assistance in the form of Education, Training, Skilling, Employment generation, Housing , Social assistance etc..
About Scheme
Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Foreign Scholarship Scheme:
Due to adverse financial condition, Scheduled Caste students cannot pursue higher education in Foreign Universities. To enable them to study in the reputed Foreign Universities, Government of Maharashtra had implemented Foreign Scholarship Scheme in year 2003. Scheduled Caste and Neo Buddhist students residing in Maharashtra can pursue Post Graduation and PhD courses among the Top 200 Universities listed in the QS World Ranking. QS World University Rankings is a portfolio of comparative college and university rankings compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds. Total 75 students are selected under this Program each year and awarded with the Scholarship.
